The brief was design a logo the got across the “inspector” message while keeping with the style of Nokia’s “Anna” style.

Well I won the pitch and the logo is on a bunch of devices right now… Maybe one day you’ll see it on a phone but if not, here it is…

Rick here. I suppose anyone who visits myconcept.co.uk may wonder if I still exist. Well I do but work has been crazy busy – not that I’m complaining, but it makes it difficult to get all those things that you need to do, done.

Plus, the kind of work I do has changed over the last 6 months which has prompted a change of venue for this site.

I’ve been a fan of wordpress for a while but for smaller clients, the investment and aggravation and knowledge required for running a self hosted solution so they could add and change their own stuff is just too much. The only thing I could suggest was wordpress.com where you can put all your content and leave the hosting and management problems to someone else.

It was obviously less flexible and well, you were stuck with the few templates they had to offer.

Until I noticed the Custom Design option where you can now edit the css code that drives the templates. Since then, more templates have been added and there seems to be a new feature every month.

What does this mean I hear you ask?

Well now I can design your site to fit your needs but it gets hosted on wordpress.com (for FREE!!!) And you don’t have to get your hands dirty managing a server, just update your content…

In fact I liked it so much that I’ve moved my self hosted site over to wordpress.com – which is why the cupboard is looking a lille bare around here for now…

Now that’s what I call eating your own dogfood!

Hello, my name is Ricardo Pirroni and I own and run MyConcept Limited.

- And yes this is a very strange title for my first post, but everything will become clear.

I used to have a very ordinary static website with some nice pictures on, which could only be changed by yours truly. Obviously this meant that because I was so busy doing other things I never, ever changed it.

Now this is the kind of thing that I go on and on to clients that they just shouldn’t do.

“Have a blog“, I say. “Write a post a day“, I say. “Your site should be alive“, I say.

Of course, as is usually the case, I am guilty of not practicing what I preach.

There is a phrase that is used in software development circles, it is, “eating one’s own dog food” sometimes shortened down to “dogfooding“. It is when a company uses the products that it makes. It demonstrates confidence in its own products, and hence a kind of testimonial advertising.

So if I am not posting to my blog and keeping my site alive then how I can expect anybody else to do the same…?

Therefore, here it is. The new MyConcept site
– Yes it is a little bare right now and there are lots of things I need to fix up. But if I don’t do it, it wont get done! 

It will slowly fill up show the range of work that gets done. Eventually there will be lots to see and lots to read.
And if I don’t do it, if I don’t update, If I don’t make it live. Then you have my permission to send me pictures of dogs to remind me or tins of dog food.
Just remember that by the time I receive them I may have already eaten!
